Dear Q600 class:
Please note that the midterm exam marks are now posted on the course web site. Due to privacy reasons, I only indicate the last four digits of your student number on the posted file. There were a few cases of duplicate four digits; for these cases I show the last six digits of your student number.

Classes cancelled lastweek of October
Dear Q600 students:
As you know, next week we have three days of recess (Thursday, October 31; Friday, November 1; and Saturday, November 2) during which all classes are cancelled.
I tried to find a suitable time slot for a make-up class for my Thursday class, but that was not possible. In order to deliver the same amount of material to all my sections, I will have to cancel my Tuesday (October 29) and Wednesday classes (October 30), too.
I will, however, be available in my main office (DSB-425) on Tuesday and Wednesday, in case you want to see me for consultation.

Students with last name "Wang"
I have many students whose last names are "Wang". Unfortunately, some of these students are not using their "official" first names in their Connect assignments. This makes it impossible for us to determine who-is-who when recording their marks.
If your last name is Wang, please send me an e-mail <parlar@mcmaster.ca> with a cc: to <guoh24@mcmaster.ca> and provide the following information:
(1) Your official first name,
(2) Your "English" name,
(3) Your student number,
(4) Your section number.
Also, please, from now on,
(5) use your official name on the Connect assignment web site.

E-mails from/to Avenue accounts
Dear Q600 students;
A few days ago one of your classmates sent me an e-mail from his Avenue account. When I replied to his e-mail, I was informed (by the system) that my e-mail did not reach him.
I would strongly advise you to use your McMaster accounts (.mcmaster.ca) when corresponding with me.

Dear Q600 students;
I have contacted both the McGraw-Hill salesperson and the bookstore manager. I am sure we will receive additional copies very soon.

So the textbooks have already been re-ordered by Carrie, the expected delivery date is Friday to Hamilton. Carrie says that a manager brings the books from Hamilton to Burlington personally, which I would think means students will be able to purchase the hard copies on Monday at the Burlington bookstore. I believe it is a situation where the books were brought it but may have been misplaced or are not clearly marked because it says there are 24 in stock though your students are unable to find them. If students are looking to purchase the connect online standalone version (ebook) they can be doing that today at the following link. They simply select your course from the dropdown menu and can purchase the access codes. http://www.bookstore.mcmaster.ca/textbooks/access-codes.html Kevin
